Water Supply Brief Description

1) BHOSGA RESERVIOR: - An earthern embankment with R.C.C. spill way having capacity of tank is 418.6 Mcft. Which is at a distance of 9.5 Km. From City. Since three years there is no rain in the catchment area due to which water is not drawn.

2) BENNITHORA RIVER: - Under IInd stage of water supply scheme the Bennithora river as source, which is at a distance of 20 Km. The three No. of 300 HP D.W.T. pumpsets, 600mm dia C.I. rising main upto 10.50 Km. & 500mm dia PSC gravity main upto filterbed. Now under KUWASIP Programme the strengthening of rising main is under progress. The scheme is designed to supply water at a rate of 4.00 MGD, but at present water is not drawing due hydraulic test of the newly laid 2.5 Km. pipeline.

3) BHIMA RIVER: - Due to increase in population the 3^rd stage of Water supply to Gulbarga City is designed and executed during 1993. The scheme is designed with pumping capacity of 5.5 MGD. The total length of rising main is of about 26 Km. From head works to Shorgumbaz treatment plant.
